Emmanuel Hess, a native Costa Rican, is a results-oriented economist with strong leadership and interpersonal skills. For over 12 years, Mr. Hess has served in several leading roles relating to forming institutional and strategic alliances.
Before joining the Center, Mr. Hess served as Executive Director for Estrategia for Siglo XXI, a non-profit roadmap project aimed at transforming the country into development by 2050 through applied education, science, technology and innovation. He was also CEO for Costa Rica's Foreign Trade Corporation (Procomer) during which he received the 2008 Panelists' Surprise Award from the prestigious International Trade Center (WTO-UNCTAD). Mr. Hess held the presidency for the Ibero-American Trade Promotion Organization network, and previously joined the Costa Rica Investment Board (CINDE) as Director for Investor Support Services, helping attract high-tech multinationals to his country. In recent years, Hess has also been an international consultant for the Inter-American Development Bank in trade facilitation and investment promotion matters.
