This course prepares students in the basics of manufacturing and service operations and their role within an organization’s overall supply chain. The course includes presentations of the following concepts; defining the role of manufacturing and service operations, linkages between market requirements and the selection of manufacturing processes, facility location strategies, and facility layout, the importance of production planning and control in synchronizing operations, the importance of quality management and performance measurement, and the role of emerging technologies in operations.
Participants will gain a solid understanding of the basics of manufacturing and service operations and the role of manufacturing & service operations within an organization’s overall supply chain. The course prepares students to be effective in entry-level and supervisory roles in manufacturing & service operations. The course may also be beneficial to executives new to manufacturing & service operations field as the course provides a solid overview of the basics of the field.
Manufacturing & Services Operations is a start anytime, self-paced course consisting of 7 Learning Blocks.

Online courses are offered through Georgia Tech Professional Education. The interface is provided via Canvas LMS and is primarily point-and-click, and can be learned by anyone capable of using a web browser. There is no software to distribute, and no experience with HTML or other technical knowledge required.

You must take 4 SCF online courses: Required course: Supply Chain Management Principles. Choose 3 SCF courses from the following: Customer Service Operations, Supply Management & Procurement, Demand Planning, or Manufacturing & Service Operations.
The certificate is designed for those who want a solid understanding of supply chain fundamentals who may be new to certain supply chain domains. The goal of the program is to support workforce readiness and upward mobility for entry-level and supervisory level associates.
