Supply Chain Fundamentals: Warehousing Operations

Course Description

Warehouse associates and associates in other supply chain domains should understand the processes, technology, and terminology that are in play in today's distribution operations. This course is intended to train students in the basics of warehousing, so that they can quickly familiarize themselves and be effective contributors in warehouse and distribution operations.

The course is structured to prepare entry-level and supervisory-level employees in warehouse operations with a fundamental understanding of the physical, technological, process, and safety considerations of warehouse/distribution operations. Additional topics include: facility configuration, storage and handling techniques, metrics, customer service considerations, and the role of distribution operations in different industries. Includes exposure to bar-coding, picking and shipping processes, and storage and sorting systems.

The cost of the course is $350 for the self-paced version. You will be provided with a URL, username and password to access the material. You must complete all required learning blocks to be awarded a Georgia Tech Course Completion certificate.

Online courses are offered through Georgia Tech Professional Education. The interface is provided via Canvas LMS and is primarily point-and-click, and can be learned by anyone capable of using a web browser. There is no software to distribute, and no experience with HTML or other technical knowledge required.
